Week 8 Story Critique – Facing Race

    by
This week I am critiquing Racial Justice Accomplishments in 2014.  The digital evaluation traits I will be assessing are: Story – Rinku Sen, Executive Director of Race Forward immediately pulled me into the story with a compelling appeal for what moves anything forward; conversations.   This story shares the energy, collaboration, inspiration, and unification of people around race at the Facing Race conference in 2014.  I was delighted to find out the 2016 conference is here in Atlanta. The

Piggy-Bank Friday: Life Skills Through Financial Literacy   (Link at end) I look for articles related to elementary education thinking of the multitude of classes I work with, the below grade level students we have, and our English language learner population. I am looking for ways beyond the stiff curriculums purchased to avenues rich with […]

main DS106 site DesignAssignments, DesignAssignments1934 As an homage to the popular Triple Quotes assignment, this one puts a rock music twist on it. Find an image of a well known rock star, add to it a phrase by song lyric by someone related in some way to the star in the image and then attribute the […]

    Critique: Food For Thought #ILT5340

    by
A Short Documentary: Food for Thought from Samantha Morello on Vimeo. I chose this digital story, because of its topic on food and on fad diets.  I’ve always been skeptical of and very outspoken against fad diets, so it was interesting to me that this “short documentary” was about one person’s fad diet experience.  I […]

    Delivering My First Webinar

    by
Last night I delivered my first webinar for the course, Webinars and Synchronus Learning. I rehearsed, I practiced, I recorded my reheasals, and I still felt like I wasn't prepared! But, I do think that is to be expected with my first one. It doesn't matter how many times you practice if it's the first time unexpected problems will arise! I scheduled my webinar for a night I knew no one would be home in my house other than me, I imagine this might be an issue for scheduling live events like this

    Giphy is Nifty

    by
Last night I attended a webinar hosted by my classmate, Haley Cristea. We are delivering short webinars for our class in the ILT program, Webinars and Synchronus Learning. I chose to attend Haley's webinar about using Giphy to create GIFs because learning to create GIFs is something I always wondered about and I thought it would be helpful in my other course, Learning with Digital Stories, win-win! The first thing I learned is that creating a GIF is so much easier than I thought it would be!!

    Week 8 Daily Create

    by
Today's daily create was to write a story on Twitter! I liked that idea and the first thing to come to mind was when I woke up this morning, how could it be that I could believe it was Friday when it was only Tuesday?

    Daily Create – Wk 8

    by
Life is full and busy and unfolding.  Sometimes we forget to pause for what is most important.  How do you want your loved ones to feel about you? What do you want your loved ones to say about you at the end of the day? If that is what you want them to say you can't allow your relationships to die on the vine because you are busy.  Like anything else LIVING, relationships need regular nurishment.

    Week 8 Focal Theme Response

    by
As I look for articles or scholarship to write about for my focal theme it seems that almost everything I come across speaks of the joyous wonderment of motherhood. Of the trials, the tribulations, heartbreak, and ultimate reward that comes with motherhood. On the opposite end I find articles about women who chose not to be mothers and just fine with that. They justify over and over again how great their lives were or how much wine they drink, or much fun they have. Both of these types of
