On This Day

I choose to do a design assignment for this week and picked “On this Day”. For this assignment you search “On this day in history” and inserted your birthday. I was actually surprised because I did not get a whole lot of information. The BBC website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/28/newsid_3725000/3725961.stm) actually was a great site for this assignment.

I found that two monkeys were launched into space May 28, 1959 in a Jupiter missile. The monkeys were of course used to test the affects of going into space. Both monkeys survived the flight, but one died afterwards.  Apparently a lot of animals have been sent to space over the years.

I used word to create the google logo and got some pictures from creative commons on google and flickr. Below are the links I used to get the pictures. You will have to click on the link to view the photo. I had a lot of trouble trying to display it on my blog.
