Return to the Silent Era

B. The Era of Silent Movies (Sherlock Holmes)

“Sherlock Holmes” (sorry there were no youtube videos that would allow me to embed but you can refer to this link to see the video.)

This particular clip from Sherlock Holmes would be perfect to be transformed into a silent movie clip. There isn’t much talking that would be missed and the few moments where he does speak would be perfect for display dialogues as text.
I would keep the irish music playing as the main music but make it just orchestral with no lyrics. When the two men do punch each other you could add the sound effects of punching or a crowd in the background. And for the few moments there is speech, I would talk that out on convert it into a few display dialogues such as when the crowd was basically calling Sherlock out for leaving the fight, I would transition the screen to blank with the word“wimp” in big bold letters and then transition back to the clip. Or when he is explaining what he is going to do before he does it add those statements into display dialogues such as:
“count with cross to left cheek”
“discombobulate”
“diploy elbow block” and so forth.
