The Shape of Bambi

Posted by

I never really thought about all stories having a specific shape. But as I listened to the video below by Kurt Vonnegut many stories passed through my head as he described patterns and how they correlate with the shape.

I chose the story of Bambi to illustrate a shape of a story. Everything starts out OK in his world. He has a mother who cares for him and he gets to play. However, one day his mother is killed by a hunter and his world spirals downward from there. He is just a fawn on his own and doesn’t know what to do. Bambi progresses on his own and finds friends and his curve steadily increases until the end where he gets the doe and lives happily ever after!
