Cats and Dogs do not belong together

Interesting Angle?

The End

Converging Window

Abstract Grass

Wide Open Spaces

And it begins…

This assignment was so much fun! I read the assignment and had some ideas before I even started so I finished a little ahead of schedule. I went home on Tuesday, and decided since I had my cats and dogs to aid me in the assignment it was the best to do this. So around noon I got my Iphone out and started clickin’ away. I started off trying to go down the list, but didn’t like some of my original ideas, so I skipped them and went on to the next. I had the most issues with the abstract angle, but finally found a pretty cool shot of some grass. I included this in my 5 favorites above. My five favorites were converging lines, two things that do not belong together, unusual angle, abstract view, and wide open spaces. My converging lines shot was unusually hard to find in my house. I finally settled on the window in the door. I loved the how the dark lines contrasted with the bright view outside. My absolute favorite photo was of two things that do not belong together. I had the most fun shooting this one with our new puppy and kitten. Ironically, they played quite well together. I had many options for this particular shot, but chose one where my puppy, Lilo, was biting my kitten, Huckleberry. The unusual angle came from when I was sitting at the bottom of the steps trying to think of where to go next, and my older dog, Bandit, barked at me at the top of the stairs. I assumed this was a hint. It was an odd angle of him and ended up making his eyes glow. Like I mentioned before, the abstract angle was hard to get. However, I found the grass to be quite appealing at such an up close view. My final photo I took was of wide open spaces. The first thing that comes to my mind is the sky with wide open spaces, but I wanted to include some life in the picture so I added in the tops of the trees.

This experience really made me think. I had originally wanted to use an actual camera that I could adjust light and exposure time, however my mom didn’t have her camera at home. I think the iphone did pretty well for just a phone. I felt it was overall a quick and easy assignment. The photo that took me the longest was when I was taking pictures of Lilo and Huckleberry playing.

As I looked through other’s photoblitz activities, I noticed that the converging lines stood out the most. Two out of the three comments I made were on converging lines. My favorite out of the ones I looked at was converging lines of Dupont hall by fanfare07. It really did look like a sunrise with the light behind it. I also commented on how interesting of a shot of a ceiling for converging lines by Kathy71493. The ordinary object by Michael Branson Smith was also very cool. AND he shot his with an iphone too apparently! I am kind of upset that my shots were as great. It looks like he used some tool though to edit lighting and such. I am new to the iphone and have not explored those shenanigans yet.
