Assignment 3a: Thoughts on Web 2.0

Web 2.0 has evolved into something that can benefit almost everyone. I think one of the greatest things about it is the idea to be able to link everything together. That allows people with the same interests to share and see what they want. “Social media” is evolving more and more each year, and this has many benefits because people from all over the world can be in contact with each other and share similar interest. Furthermore, the capability of storytelling on the web with audio and video clips only enhances the experience. The only part bothers me about Web 2.0 growing so huge, is the risk that can come with it. If people are not careful when putting their information on the web, danger can be associated with it. That being said, everyone will need to take their own persuasion and the web will be safe.

I think that the capabilities that Web 2.0 offers are very useful because it can make the process of learning and teaching much easier and more effective. Students will be more motivated to participate in something they can create themselves. Also, the entertainment options are endless. I believe that Web 2.0 offers something for everyone and it is becoming something that we depend on for so many different things. I can’t imagine not having sites like YouTube or Facebook to go on.

The Creative Commons idea is very neat! I never thought about how convenient something like that would be. Also, it makes it so much easier for educators because their process of getting materials from others is made much faster. It is also good that it provides licenses that reflect the laws of many countries, making it accessible all over the world.

Overall after i read everything, I think Web 2.0 will keep enhancing and providing endless opportunities. I think everyone should take advantage of what technology offers us.
