This American Life: #1 Party School

I listened to this story end to end and tried my best to understand the cultural phenomenon of college binge drinking.  I realize that I am a returning student and far away from the usual undergraduate college age, but even when I think back to my first college experience in my early twenties, I don’t remember my classmates living to achieve the next drunk or the next high.  I am at a loss to understand why that pursuit should be so popular today.

The story leaves me thinking about all the time those students were wasting on at best non-productive and at worst self-destructive activities. Time is the one non-renewable resource on the planet.  I don’t take it for granted.  But, that may just be a function of age.
