Web 2.0 and Storytelling

So basically, what I’ve gathered from these readings is what exactly the web has allowed us to do the more it has progressed. As I read all of this, especially the chapter on Storytelling, I found myself thinking that I should have already realized the capabilities of Web 2.0 and the online opportunities I now have because of it. I use Twitter and Facebook on a daily basis, but I guess I haven’t spent enough time looking at the big picture, appreciating them for what they are, and noticing that Web 2.0 is what keeps me connected. It allows me to “story-tell” constantly, keep up with my life-long friends and family that are now all spread out, find out ANYTHING in the matter of fifteen seconds, voice my opinion on any topic, etc. etc…

I can’t even begin to fathom the idea of still being in the era of Web 1.0. Netscape? Does anyone really even remember that anymore?? Prime example: when was the last time you heard someone say, “Oh, just Netscape it.” Never. I can’t imagine not having Google to rely on. I know Web 2.0 has been a concept for barely ten years, but it just seems like our world has changed because of it. I think it’s the complete opposite of a meaningless, marketing tactic. I think it has formed and will continue to form the direction our lives go in.
