Going political on yall

I’m mad, oh I am mad, and it is against you corporate America. Let’s talk insider trading and lets talk about the people that we are suppose to look up to and trust. Governmental officials who now remind me more of car salesman than the old Abe Lincoln I like to imagine. Members of the U.S. Senate have obvious access to valuable information by virtue of their government position and social contacts. I’m curious to know whether Senators and Congressman’s financial portfolios out perform the national average. After doing research on average cumulative return around 25% according to the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. This comes out to Senators out performing the market by on average 1% per month. Current law does not prohibit senators from trading stock on the basis of information acquired in the course of performing their normal Senatorial functions. HOW IS THIS HAPPENING? I want someone, one of the 312,975,975 (http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html) to start doing some research on all federal judges, congressman, and senators.

Next up on the rant, god damn high up government officials. For example, Clarence Thomas you greedy carnivorous man. Let’s take a look at what has been bought for him in the last six years as gifts:
1. Free trip aboard a private jet to the exclusive Bohemian Grove club in Northern California — arranged by a wealthy Texas real estate investor who helped run an advocacy group that filed briefs with the Supreme Court.
2. A bust of President Lincoln valued at $15,000.
3. Bible once owned by the 19th century author and abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass, which Thomas valued at $19,000
4. $5,000 personal check to help pay a relative’s education expenses.
5. $1,200 worth of tires
6. Providing $500,000 for Ms.Thomas to start a Tea Party-related group

Why would someone do that — give a gift to Clarence Thomas? Unless they are family members or really close friends, the only reason to give gifts is to influence the judge. Judges are not even supposed to know who donates to projects honoring them. His ethics have been under increasing scrutiny for good reason, largely because of the activities of Justice Thomas and Ms. Thomas, whose group, Liberty Central, opposed President Obama’s health care overhaul — an issue likely to wind up before the court. In the case of the man who gave most of this to Judge Thomas, two of the conservative organizations that he supports and litigations that his companies have been involved in have gone in front of the Supreme Court.

All of this is unbelievably frustrating, and the worst part is: I can’t do much. If I ever have the chance, I’ll speak up
