Visual Assignment – ReCaptcha

I love the idea behind this assignment. I have stared at countless Captchas wondering ” what in the world is that?”, I would even go and Google a word out of curiosity(usually with no luck). However, I digress.

For this assignment, the ds106 gods gave me the captcha “Homeip Elected”. Upon seeing this, immediately thought of a  family at home, watching elections and election campaigns. However, the president was replaced with a new profession – the PI, other wise known as Private Investigators.

To make this, I once again used GIMP, which is quickly beating out Photoshop for my affection. However, this required less cutting of the images. The only image that required the scissor tool was the Private Investigator, which was surrounded by a white background. Then all I had to do was scale the images to put inside the television. I did find out a time saving trick though, at least for my circumstances.

After I had already edited all the images into their place, I realized that I wanted to make the Television/Home image larger and feared that it would mess up the rest of them. I was wrong. Since I had adjusted them and saved it as a new file, I simply opened it up (which at this point has all the elements saved into it) and rescaled the entire thing. Everything moved along with it and I was a happy boy.
