Blackout Poetry

I was very inspired by the idea of changing a texts meaning by simply “blacking out” some of the letters. So I choose to explore the same passage in two different ways: Each of the photos depicts a different view on love. Just by being able to control what was seen, I was able to manipulate the text and make it my own. Choosing what to censor and what to say makes all the difference in each. Changing the meaning of a text that already exists comes as part of being able to read between the lines and see the possibilities for other messages lurking within each sentence. While one reads, “Love means you give your heart,” the other claims, “Love means hurt so just hate” – such opposing messages all from the same exact text. But the message we choose to live by depends entirely on how we have each read our world. (3 STARS EACH)
