Design Assignment- If Movie Posters Told The Truth

After a fated event Makoto Konno gains the power to literally “leap” into the past, she of course uses this power in small ways to better her life: get to school earlier, retake a test she fails, take the last pudding before her sister does, etc. However she soon has to face the fact that changing the past can have drastic consequences. To illustrate the point my poster is making I have made this small gif:

Throughout the film Makoto repeatedly takes a running start, sometimes down steep inclines and bridges, and jumps head first into a past that for all she knows could have a number of sharp pointed knives on the other end.

The editing to add in the leg cast and head bandages was done by Photoshop  with some images I found on the web and some careful cropping. While re-editing this poster I came across the issue of how to rewrite over the original text while keeping the background in tact. How I overcame this dilemma was by using the retouch blemish tool in Picasa, this tool allows you to cover up one area of an image by brushing over it with another selected area. I feel that this method got the job done and worked even better because of the ambiguous shape of the clouds.
