If Movie Posters Told the Truth – 3 Stars

For this assignment, I chose to make the Paranormal Activity poster one that told the truth of the movie. For me, this movie franchise is terrifying. I have not slept without a night light since I saw this movie… sad, but true (hence the text). This was quite fun, again spending entirely too long on it, trying to figure out the mysteries of photoshop. So to obtain the initial image of the poster, I googled paranormal activity movie poster and saved it to my computer. I then opened the image in photoshop. First thing I did was to eye drop the background ‘black’ behind the text. Then I erased the lower portion of the poster. To create a blank black background, I created a rectangle and sized it to the lower half of the poster. I used the paint bucket to fill the rectangle with the eyedropped color. I then inserted a text box with the text and adjusted the color. That created a text layer and a photo layer. I then created a middle layer and copied the same text. I offset the text from the middle layer and used filter–> blur –> gaussian blur to create the hazy text on the poster image.

More to come!
