I decided to do the 1930s movie “Dracula” which happened to be adapted from the book by Bram Stoker.

This was a fun experiment–starting completely from scratch to create a book cover based on a movie. I used photoshop for this one–surprise, surprise. I started with a blank black layer. I wanted to try and create the header on my own–instead of using the template everyone else has been using.  I used rectangle to divide a top header and fill with the paint bucket with black. Then I used the shape tool to create a thicker red line across the top. I added text “The NEW I can read movies” and took a screen image of the video camera from noun project to lasso and scale to fit in the header. In order to create a triangle (for the fangs)–which is much more difficult than it looks on photoshop– I clicked the customize shape tool–> chose a triangular figure. I drew the triangle on the black surface and filled it with the paint brush with white paint.  I clicked on the layer of the fang and duplicated it to create an identical fang. I changed the shape tool to an water drop (for the blood) and filled it with red. I added a few additional blood drops for effect. I found an  AWESOME dracula font on dafont.com, but could not for the life of me figure out how to change the color. So I found a cool script to title the book “Dracula.” As a tag line, I thought it would be comical to explain that it’s a novelization of a motion picture that is based on a novel. All of the text was added through the text box feature, with assorted fonts and colors. SAVED AND UPLOADED! I was hoping it would have turned out aged and cool novel-like, but I worked for hours on this and am happy that I surfaced with this product.
