Really Reality TV by Alan Levine is an assignment that involves creating your own reality TV show to air on DS106 TV. The steps of the assignment go as follows: 1) Use the Reality TV Show name generator (http://www.zeigen.com/reality/) to get the name of your show, 2) Google search the title of your show, take the 1st paragraph of the 5th result and the last paragraph of the 10th result and use both as your show’s description, 3)Find three creative commons photographs of the main character, setting, and action shot from the show, 4) Create an elevator pitch for the show. Since you randomly pick the paragraphs for the show description, the script pretty much writes itself. The title is self explanatory, the reality show is based around tasting a famous chef’s food. The paragraphs from results worked out pretty good, and luckily the main character was pretty much picked for me, Martha Stewart. Ironic enough, she is from the same town I grew up in. I created the poster in GIMP and then wrote my elevator pitch. Here is the result:
POSTER:
DESCRIPTION:
Join us for themed cocktail receptions in Nourish Café with food and wine stations and tapas. Each month enjoy pairings of specific wines with foods and flavors followed by a self-guided or docent-led tour of a gallery or exhibition (1).
“Hoecakes & Hospitality: Cooking with Martha Washington” is included with general admission, which costs $15 for adults and $7 for children ages 6 to 11. Children younger than 5 years old are admitted free. Admission to all events is free on Monday, Feb. 21, in honor of George Washington’s birthday (2).
ELEVATOR PITCH:
Have you ever watched the cooking shows on the Food Channel and wished you could have one tailored to your tastes in food? Well wait no longer! Martha Stewart is coming to Mary washington and starting a cooking show aired in the duPont gallery. The show will include cooking exhibitions of the students choice and a reception afterwards in which the food made on the show will be sampled to the audience. Come take a break from your normal lectures and learn how to make some delicious food. Who knows, maybe you’ll be picked as a participant and end up on DS106 TV!
