Eagle Radio Update

My radio group (AKA Eagle Radio) just had a super productive meeting!!! I was feeling really nervous about completing this assignment because it seems like such a big undertaking, but after our meeting, I’m actually feeling really good about it! Candice, Leslie, Margaret, and I met at the Washroom and planned out our show.

We decided last class that we wanted out show to be about UMW’s history. We thought it might be cool to tell the history of the school through interviews (with either fictional or real alumni). In our meeting today we decieded that we would break up the show into four main segments: an intorduction, an interview from 1908 (when the school was founded), and interview from 1972 (when it became a coed school), and interviews from 2012 (where our four group members could talk about our exoeriences).

Leslie stumbled on this great site that outlines the history of UMW that was created by the Historic Preservation department (go Prez!!). There is so much information about the school for each decade. This is going to be really helpful for us to create a mock alumni for the 1908 segment.

As a group we also came up with a set of interview questions which we will use for the individuals from each segment. Using the same questions we will be able to compare each person’s experience at UMW and help give listeners a cohesive story of how the school developed.

We want to use music from each time period to work as our transitions between the segments and possibly as layers under the interviews. Our commercials will feature popular products of each time period and music to match. So far we aren’t sure whether we will need to make these recordings ourselves or if we will be able to find what we are looking for already recorded on the internet.

I think it’s really coming along now and I’m excited to see how it turns out!
