Pre-Production for Video Week

I’ve chosen to pre-produce the “make a scene from a horror movie” and the “opening credits redux” assignments.

In order to create a scene from a horror movie I would need actors, lots of make-up, an acceptable camera (most likely an iphone), epic music and some scripted action. I would recreate the infamous shower scene in the Bates Motel from Psycho. My actress would be showering, my actor would enter without a noise, he would tear back the shower curtain. The actress would scream. I would cut to the actor doing a stabbing motion with a larger knife. I would try to recreate it as best I could–black and white, similar cuts, ending the scene with a close up of the water draining, then the water turning dark with blood. My goal would be to film it in as few takes as possible and then cut it into choppier looks.

In light of my previous assignment about The Wizard of Oz  I would opt to redo the film’s opening credits. I would start in black and white,  show the movie title. The camera would pan to a closeup shot of a rainbow. Starting from the bottom, the camera would move its way along the rainbow. As the camera moved, there would be actors/production names and slowly color would appear until the end of the rainbow where it would be in full color.

Hooray for video week!
