Final Project

For my final project I have decided to do a “family archive.” My mother and grandmother took tons of pictures and home videos of my siblings and I when we when younger. Of course now they are completely out dated. I’m scared that there is going to be a fire and I’m going to lose all of those memories. If they were digital I could keep them in multiple places and on something easy to grab if something ever does happen. The goal for this project is to keep up with the ever evolving technology. Right now my home videos are on VHS. I don’t even own a VHS player. I am going to learn the process of converting videos to different formats. I’m also going to learn the very lengthy process of scanning in TONS of photographs and attempting to organize them into some sort of comprehensible order. Over the past week I have gotten with my mother and told her about what I plan to do. I got from home my “picture box” which is too small to even house off of the pictures. Each of the three of us have our own picture box, but then we have a bunch of pictures still in the box from when they got developed. I know that this task is way to large to possibly tackle, but the goal for now is to experience the process it takes to make this a reality. Now that I have the pictures it is time to begin! I will be blogging my learning process every week sharing my accomplishments and challenges. Wish me luck!
