Open Mic Night!

Today was open mic night at SUNY Cortland with NCTE.  I decided to perform/read my poem entitled “Twenty-One” tonight 3/27/12 :)

I wrote this poem a few days after my twenty first birthday- hence the title.  I just wrote this because I guess you can say I was going through a bit of a hard time.  I feel like I was learning who my true friends are and realizing that what I always envisioned my life to be when I was a little girl was not happening.  However, as I was evaluating my life I realized that the reason my life was not what I expected when I was little was because my values have changed and I’ve matured.  Who cares how you look?  Just be a good person.  Life doesn’t always go as planned, but that’s part of the fun.
