The experience of DS106 has been a great one. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting coming into the course but I’m so happy I took it. I learned a lot of things that I can use in many ways in the near future. I got the opportunity to work with others on a radio show, and more importantly I learned how to put audio together with the help of my classmates and google of course. I learned about gifs which is something I wanted to learn to do for a long time and although I never did one I did learn how to do it and I plan to in the future as well. My favorite assignments had to be the visual and at the top of my list was the ds106 movie poster I did, hence my final project. The design assignments were cool as well because they encouraged me to spend a little more time thinking about the font that I am going to use in my graphic as opposed to just using what is available.
Though I’m sad that the semester has to come to an end I am really excited to use everything I’ve learned in the classes that I will be taking next semester. I’m happy that this course was more of a learn it and do it yourself course because now there is no way I can forget how to do all the things I learned because I spent way too much time researching for it.
The daily creates were a cool little addition to the course. It helped to expand on people’s creativity. My favorites were all the ones where you had to take a picture as opposed to the audio and video. I liked the idea of capturing something beautiful in that moment.
Overall this course was well thought out and definitely worth it. I enjoyed it and I will continue to participate on the ds106 website and I will do a lot more of the daily creates.
