HELLO!
Starting off my FIRST Weekly Summary, I am going to post all my links for all my “sites.” Just trying to cover all my bases:

So, from the beginning it seemed as though this class just wasn’t the thing for me. The trouble started when I registered for two domains not just one. Luckily, Mr. Tim came to my rescue and sorted that out, but then my entire site had to be swept up and restarted because of errors. Finally, I was up and running able to install word-press and to start on my blog. At first I wasn’t really sure what to put on it… AT ALL. I was almost what you could say a little “star struck” with the entire process. I started with an “All about Me” post which I eventually deleted because I knew that wasn’t going to work. I then created a PAGE.. YES! that worked better. The page itself is short but sweet, it gets the job done.

The first weekly media was to view two videos and read a picture. Robert Hughes on what art is, brought up many interesting points, one statement he made that stood out to me was about art being a “lost paradise.” The next video, WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM, I felt I could relate exactly to what his first point was: ideas needing time to become fully operational. I feel as if that happens often in my life. (: He mentions the historic increase of connectivity and how that has made reaching out to others to exchange ideas and thoughts make more “innovations” happen. (: Lastly I was asked to read/look at a photo by John Cage, “Rules for Students and Teachers.” The DS106ers were asked to answer the question, “How does it resonate with your own perception of yourself as a creator and student?” I do believe in the statement “Nothing is a mistake” 110%. Many of the statements I’ve been taught by my parents and teachers and some I have never heard of before. This list is now the desktop background of my CPU. Rule #8: Do not try to create and analyze at the same time. They are different processes. That rule is one that I always break and I now know why it usually didn’t result in a great piece of work.
MY FIRST DAILY CREATE EXPERIENCE: OH MY GOSH! What a great topic! I go EVERYWHERE with my keys. I commute to school so at some points during the week I wish my lanyard is sown into my skin. Each key chain means something to me, and I really just overall enjoyed the topic. However, I had some trouble shooting the video when I first started out, because I all of a sudden realized I became slightly camera-shy. So as soon as the camera was off me I was able to form sentences that actually made sense. I hope to conquer this new come “fear” over the weekend. I have never had a YouTube account before so I was ready and willingly to finally jump on board and make one!

I have had a personal private twitter for about a year now and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to update my life almost every minute.. haha you could say I was a little obsessed. Because I wanted to keep most of my life private to close friends and family I created another twitter for this class and I am truly thankful for the instant communication, especially for my professor’s help.
I am officially a #ds106 er

I haven’t had any experience with sound cloud, so I am excited to be able to fool around on it and become in touch with how everything works.

Finally, Flickr. I have had no experience with this application also, so I am definitely in need of tips as to how everything works! I decided to take part in the ONE COLOR STANDOUT daily create. I had a lot of fun doing this one, the lighting and aspects of one color was at first harder than expected. This is a photo of my coach purse. I chose to tweak the contrast and to zoom in to make it more effective. This shot was challenging because it took many angles to get it just right! (:

To sum up, my thoughts about this first week are INSANITY. I enjoyed being challenged with the bombardment of the First Daily Create. All of a sudden it was a boat load of work, but I was able to conquer it… hopefully… haha.
I am just thankful that this week’s work is OVER
