Week One, How shall I describe you?… Interesting.
I originally signed up for this class because someone said it was different and if you were technology savvy it would be easy. I’m finding both to be true. The media we had to watch at the beginning of the week was very straight forward. The first video though was my least favorite of the two. I get easily distracted and while watching old videos like this one I tend to doze off. The second video however proved to be a favorite. This approach to where great ideas come from is a very thought provoking concept. The insanely good drawings also helped captivate me. Although it was very informative it was thoroughly interesting. Not something I would generally watch on my own time, but it was actually really good.
The picture that was posted under the two videos was very neat. It definitely rang true and should be followed by every college student/professor. I wish I would have seen this piece of media my first semester at Mary Washington.
The daily create was nerve wracking. I don’t like listening to myself talk so it was hard for me to keep a straight face. I at times thought I was talking to myself, even though there was another person in the room. I did however enjoy watching everyone else’s videos and seeing what interesting things/stories their keychains held.

Per my first week in DS106, I’d say things went extremely smoothly. Granted if I got stuck, I’d either ask @CogDog or @sgtsocks. I think this class will be very interesting and will kind of bring me out of my comfort zone. The workload seems manageable and I’m looking forward to more daily creates. I’m kind of dreading all the video assignments though, like I said, I don’t like hearing myself talk. I hope that DS106 proves itself to be as interesting as I think it will be.
Over and out,
Ashley
