Week 2 of being a DS106?er

I don’t even know where to begin. This week was definitely more time/labor intensive. We had to complete 3 Daily Create’s, link my blog posts to my twitter,  learn how to make a GIF document.

My FIrst Daily Create was: The Great Outdoors!

This time of the season is my favorite; The transition between summer and fall. This Photo was taken in the back yard of the place I rent from. We have a nice pond with a bench and a bridge, occasionally you get to see the ducks and chickens.

Great Outdoors

My Second Daily Create was: Spinning Objects; Freeze Frame.

As a majority of you all know, I am infatuated with cars. This past winter I went up to DC for the  Washington Auto Show. They had all domestic and import vehicles. This photo, below, is a new 2015 Lexus that was being introduced on a rotating stand.
Washington Auto Show
The purpose of the DC auto show is to allow consumers to see, first-hand, the new cars coming to the market in 2013. If you’ve never attend this event, it is definitely worth it. They have student discounts certain days of the week. What is your favorite car?My favorite movie is Batman and Heath Ledger was a phenomenal actor in this movie. I choose to do my first Digital Animation using The Joker from Batman. After I saw our first digital assignment posted and saw that we had to learn how to do it on our own, I automatically went to youtube. After an hour of searching I found a video that was most helpful. I downloaded the software I needed and began to work on my masterpiece.
My process of creating the above .Gif was through a program called GIMP. I do not have photoshop, after extensive research, it was difficult to finally find a program that I could use that I could just download. Maybe photoshop is something to invest in? Anyhow, I took this photo and duplicated it and adjusted the effects and added some movement to each photo to give it a modern, more villain like animation. I hope to learn more about GIMP and the different features, learning how to make objects move (ie. the oil rig professor Levine posted)
My Third Daily Create was to draw somewhere I want to visit.
Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas
This is the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegad, Nevada. I have actually been here before… about 15 years ago; i was a toddler. However, just turning 21, this is a destination I want love to visit again and get the full experience of Las Vegas :)
To summarize the week in one word: Stressful. I started doing work for this class on Monday. I have put in over six hours of work this week for this one class. I consider myself to technologically savvy, but I just don’t understand why I it is taking so long to get the assignments done for the class. I hope that as the weeks continue I am more familiar with the programs we are using, etc. I can’t even imagine having to continually, weekly, putting in over 6 hours for one class.
I changed my blog theme on day one of the course. I kept it similar to the original because it looked best with my header. However, I did go through all the themes to see what options there were. I wouldn’t consider anything with layout of the blog to be difficult.
I would say one of my largest struggles on wordpress is embedding. Photos and Videos are fine, it is data/videos from other websites (tumblr, flickr), I have googles and youtubed solutions like crazy and I still struggle with it. I also dont understand how to use the plug-ins… I will figure it out eventually, I guess.

On a side note, this is what happens when you let too much time go by while you are steadily working on DS106–
