Radio shows

I am always interested on hearing others opinions and I enjoyed both Ira Glass and Radiolab‘s Jad Abumrad thoughts on storytelling through the radio.  Ira Glass brought up a great point that you have to be able to captivate people.  Talking into a tone that is not a normal day to day voice can cause people to become uninterested in the topic at hand.  I liked how Ira pointed out that there is a lot of work that goes behind the stories they discuss.  Putting in a lot of effort to gather a story and then deciding to kill the story because the interaction between the interviewer and the person being interviewed wasn’t as interesting as expected.  I also enjoyed Abumrad‘s outlook on how someone else is in a sense portraying a picture for you to paint yourself.  To me that is kind of an abstract idea but one that is really cool.
