DS106 Radio

I listened to Autumn Songs by Hank Soda today. I found his song choices particularly interesting and I told him so. I realized that he was playing songs that would remind a person of autumn. It made me ask, why was it not immediately obvious that he was playing autumn themed songs. I came up with the fact that autumn is one of the most neglected seasons when it comes to song making. Of course, winter has songs like “Let it Snow” and loads of other songs that deal with snow. Spring and summer share a beach and warm weather team which also makes expression in terms of music easier. But autumn is neglected. I felt that Hank Soda did a very good job once I realized that the purpose of the broadcast was autumn. His song choices were mostly calming songs which transitioned into rougher songs as the broadcast continued, kind of like the transition from summer to winter. The weather and tone goes from relaxing in the late summer, to the rougher cold weather and the business of the winter season. Five listeners were listening along with me which ended up being the peak of the listeners. Listening to the radio program was enjoyable and it gives me confidence to do this if I so need to.
