Weekly Summary #6

Since Martha was wondering why I didn’t have images in my Visual Week blog, I am going to do more embedding in this summary.

The Design Safari was fun! I was surprised that it didn’t take too long to start noticing elements of design in our everyday lives. It made me conscious of the fact that care should be taken to take a couple extra minutes every day to just observe for a little while what design I can notice.

Here’s my favorite image:

Rose

It serves as an example of multiple elements, including color and balance.

DAILY CREATES

Monday:

Celebrating World Vegetarian day with a salad!

Me, eating salad. Perfect for world Vegetarian Day. Also, I work at a produce stand so I eat a lot of veggies and fruits.

Tuesday:

font-sorry it's backwards

I think my handwriting’s pretty spectacular, so I liked this daily create a lot. I wrote it and then took a picture with my webcam because I couldn’t find my camera (hence the backwards image).

Wednesday:

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8xGb4o3Vfs&feature=plcp

I liked this because I have practiced my Kardashian voice. I don’t really like them, but their voices are spectacular for imitation. I just hope I did them justice. If not, just watch and laugh!

Thursday:

houseplan

My house from the Eastern Shore! I did this in paint, and because of my lack of paint skills, I only did the first floor (my lines were SO chunky). We spent most of our time on the first floor anyway. I would be interested to see how accurate this was, since I haven’t lived in that house in about 10 odd years.

The radio show is coming along well. I plan on contributing my accents and we’ve created a group google doc to share ideas. Kendall is hesitant about a radio drama, so I think we may go more soundscape, which is fine! I know we plan on including classic roadtrip movies and songs into our show. It’s kind of making me nervous that we haven’t set up true specifics yet, but they are coming. I’m going to do some making of Vacation sound clips with On the Road Again. Also, we think we want to make the Grand Canyon or something similar our destination.

Design Assignments:

One: I really liked this one. The difficult part is reducing a story down to four elements, but once you do that, it’s really easy to collage them in Picasa and make the image.

Two: I get so judged sometimes for working at a produce stand so I thought this would be perfect for the meme. It’s the first one I’ve ever made but it was a lot easier than I thought. The most difficult thing was finding non slutty-farm girl images.

Three: I love Dr. Seuss books, and this is one of my favorites. I thought about computer related things, and the -wares just popped into my head. I wish I could have matched the fonts, but the font does represent computers better.

Four :P OST SECRET! The blue screen is so dreaded. I get so stressed out about backing up my data to multiple places. Maybe because my history background, but when you write a 10-15 page paper, you don’t want to lose a piece of it once it’s written. Also, it’s my very first post secret and I’m addicted.

Five:  The autobiography cover gave me time to reflect on my life and figure out how I would describe it. The quote is one that is so meaningful to me, and hard to put into words.

Six: The poster! I love this poster. It makes me happy just to look at it because of the colors. And, I love Willie Nelson even with all his illegal activities. I hope he likes my lyric change.

This week was challenging, but not awful by any means. I was so nervous to do design and I still need to play around with photoshop to get more comfortable. Other than that, this week was pretty successful! On to week 7! and RADIO SHOWS!
