Look:

• Panning at the beginning of the trailer.
• Point of view when they are talking at the restaurant table. (dim lighting at restaurant to set a date night mood)
• freeze screen when introducing the characters
• still frame steady cam when following the character walking in his apartment after getting a drink.
• Fast frame changes when introducing the character tank.
• Fast horizontal panning at the office
• slow motion (with the money moving and the cigarette part)
• Partial slow motion when they are jogging and the guy trips, along with a camera view from up top, looking down.

Listen

• Music changes with different characters
• Music becomes more upbeat when they introduce the female character
• When the trailer introduced the male character the music was kind of lackluster and dull as if he is going through a rough time.
• When they represent when the two characters come in contact with each other the music and background noise become more chaotic.

Analyze

• The background music and noise helps to build the characters personalities in a sense.
• The frantic friend at the office becomes more frantic when the music quickens and his body motion is more jittery.
• The music change when the female is introduced helps to show the positive impact she has on the male character, and then the music changes to show what hidden quarks that have the possibility to be negative towards the relationship they are about to have.

Robert Ebert’s analysis of the trailer….

• When they are showing parts of Tank’s character, when they are discussing him having to be  a real jerk, they have the camera slightly lowered which helps to enhance/make Tank’s character more dominant.
• When they guy trips and falls while running and then they pan upward into the female characters face, with the bright sun shining behind her, it not only enlightens her character but adds emphasis on how upbeat this character can be.
• When the women walks away in the red dress towards the end, and moves toward the left part of the screen it appears as if she is leaving and the male character might be losing her forever.
• The foreground is stronger than the background when they show the part in which they accidentally shave the guys eyebrow off.
