Video Editing Tools

We had to write a blog post about the video editing tools we have available to us and also had to talk about the experience we had with these tools. Mine is pretty much zero… So we’ll see how this goes!

3 Time Review

I chose to analyze the “Inch by Inch” speech by Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday for this assignment. This past Thursday, my soccer team traveled to Salisbury to play in the CAC semifinal match and we listened to this speech before the game and it got me so pumped up!

Exploraaaa

We had to explore the movie we chose for our analysis a bit more. We had to find 3 facts about the production of the movie, decipher its genre, and create a montage by combining two clips from scenes from the movie. Here it is! I like the way mine turned out :)

Video Assignment Planning

Right now, I have two video assignments planned out: Play by Play and Return to the Silent Era. I’m interested to see how do complete these assignments and can’t wait to see the final results! Go here to see the steps I’ve made in planning these so far.

Daily Creates

The Daily Creates this week were fun! Although it was sad to record damage from Hurricane Sandy, it was cool to see that although it impacted the tree, it didn’t damage the house or the yard or anything so that was amazing! I also have a crazy story about something unusual that I keep it in my wallet and purse so that was a fun story to tell!

Reflection

This week I’ve learned all about the different movie techniques and camera angles that are used in the creation of movies. Each angle was different, interesting, and contributed a different sense or feeling to that scene. I learned that camera angles can evoke certain emotions or feelings or senses from the viewer and that these can be manipulated to build or enhance a scene and the overall plot. I’m really curious to see how the video assignments work out next week and I really need to focus on starting early and not putting things off to the last minute. I’ve definitely learned my lesson by now… Or at least I should have.
