Double Remixed Game Covers

I used the ds106 remix site to find a remixed assignment. It came up with a new assignment using the assignment Remixed Game Covers and added a twist to create a dull powerpoint presentation. I have made many powerpoint presentations in my life so I feel I have gotten pretty used to the normal aspects of a good presentation. Some big “no no’s” are: make it readable, no crazy fonts, many it interesting, use minimal wording, and no crazy transitions or colors. Well, in this presentation I did most of the above.

I first separated the assignments. I created a Remixed game cover. I decided to use Mario Kart. When I googled pictures of the original cover I noticed that in the Wii version there are no cars. I decided to take this literally and changed the wording to Mario Run. I had a really hard time with finding the right font. I couldn’t find it exactly but used Rockwell Extra Bold. I changed the color to gray and added a bit of a fading effect that the original had. I was pretty satisfied with the results.

The next step was to address the powerpoint aspect of the remix. I decided to do a powerpoint introducing the new product. I first found a pretty boring background effect. I then changed the colors so it was hard to read, but still somewhat readable. I used different fonts on the front slide so they didn’t match. I added the picture of the game cover and put a crazy background behind it. The next two slides are basically just a bunch of wording. It explains where the game came from and why (the why is pretty ridiculous). Overall the powerpoint made the game pretty un-appeasing.

I wasn’t sure how to get a powerpoint presentation into my website. So, I just took snapshots of each slide and added the pictures to windows movie maker. For the final touches I added ridiculous transitions for each slide.
