Do you Believe in Magic?

Well if you couldn’t tell from my posts this week, I decided to make this a theme! Who doesn’t love a little bit of magic in their life?  This week we needed to do various different tasks including two daily creates and make our own GIF. In all honesty, I thought that the things I was doing were pretty magical. Plus I really needed to use some magic in order to uninstall the virus on my computer, villains can be such a pain in the neck.

The first daily create that I did this week was on Tuesday where I reintroduced the ds106 community to the Genie from Aladdin. This movie was always something magical to me, and seeing such a humorous character in Disney movies always makes me happy, which is why the Genie is one of my favorites. This assignment was a funny way to try and translate monologues that were missing every third word, and I even was tested when seeing the Finding Nemo monologue.

The next day was dedicated purely to ds106 and revamping everything. Yes that is right, this blog got a new look. Luckily for me, my sister was extremely bored at work and was very willing to give her opinion on colors that would work out well (since I have zero taste when it comes to color). I decided to use the “Childishly Simple Theme” which I’m pretty sure speaks for itself. I changed the header first, and wanted to get a twist on the princesses because this is a twisted fairy tale. The main colors of this theme were yellow and green, but I decided to change the green to purple (as per request of my Clemson fan sister). As for the widgets, it took a while to figure out and I customized my own and added the suggested categories. I also added a menu onto the top of the bar which is a quick way to access my postings. As for the cover page, I still am not certain that I have done it right, but I did use a theme to decorate my page and I will even try to link in the other blog that I have going on for my other class! I’m sure I will do more tweaking later on as I get a feel for the class, but that’s a problem for the future.

After the whole transformation was done, I was feeling ambitious and wanted to portray the famous transformation Disney scene into a GIF. This was a true battle and even caused the virus to get on my computer through using iLivid. It installed   searchnu which hijacks the search engines on all browsers used, but it has been removed after lots of research and restarting of my computer. Who would have thought that would be the hardest part of the week?

Finally to wrap it all up, I did Thursday’s Daily create where I made my own Got Milk advertisement using tea. This ended up being a big headache as well because I had to redraw part of a character, but like I said in the post, I like the challenge. And once again, I used some magical characters with the three good fairies from Sleep Beauty, and personally the blue fairy is my favorite because who doesn’t love a grump in the morning? I know I certainly am grumpy, princesses need their beauty sleep after all!

The final thing that I did this week was set up my email address through the site at [email protected]. If anyone ever has the patience to type that all out, then they will really just access my on the email that it gets forwarded too. But why not give it a shot right?
