The word storytelling brings about a flurry of thoughts for me. I think storytelling categorizes into three major different categories: written, spoken, and digital, with digital being most broad and encompassing the most. In my mind written involves books, short stories, etc.; spoken is essentially storytelling by word of mouth; and digital is all forms of media such as movies, audio files, digital photos, etc. Storytelling has been the fundamental form of entertainment for humans since the beginning of mankind, and its forms have gradually evolved over thousands of years. The most evolved form, digital storytelling, is intangible, electronic media that expresses a story. That’s how I view it at least.

PS – I am ashamed to say my immediate reaction was to simply google ‘storytelling’. Has the internet taken from me the ability to think for myself?
