I chose the piano duel for the ages for the inspire work because I found it the most amusing to watch. The concept is very simple, but it was cool to see such random, obscure things mashed together. It is a digital story because it is digitally animated through a video and, well, tells a story… The arc of the story, if i had to identify it, would start on the x-axis, because it is neither happy nor sad, and then seems to steadily climb up as more and more people hear Mr. Whiskers playing the piano, ending in uproarious applause. It could be part of a larger story, like the cat going on to win some award… Maybe an MTV Music Award; not something like an Oscar for best original music in a movie.
For the best of ds106 last semester, I chose the good egg, gone rotten because I though it was hilarious, simple, and incredibly creative. The story is told in 5 frames of pictures drawn on eggs and the idea is so simple I don’t know what to do with myself. Wish I had thought of it. I would imagine it is a digital story because it was digitally produced with a camera and whatnot. Just a thought. I wouldn’t consider there being an arc in the story, because it is really just bad a bad egg brooding over and killing an egg the whole time, so the happiness meter should stay constant unless you consider the egg going to egg-jail for his crimes as being happy. I would imagine this story could be expanded on very easily, adding new plot elements, characters, etc. They could have a funeral for the egg and his egg brother planning revenge on the murderer or something. Lots of different ways to go from here.
