The Great Bloggers

Whilst browsing in the East Wing Library, the Fandom Princess came across an archive of books in which there were the works of the great Bloggers, something that she was only somewhat familiar with. The Fandom Princess had told her that she should further investigate the many designs and storytelling ideas that the Bloggers had written and passed down, so the Princess decided to indulge and report on some of them:

For the assignment in which we had to look at past DS106 blog posts, I found a lot of very unique and interesting ideas and themes that bloggers experimented with.

From the in[Spire] website, I picked ‘The 488th Day of Summer’ post by Rossanna Catahan. In the post, she did something very creative where she not only had the GIF from the movie ‘500 Days of Summer’ (GREAT MOVIE!) but she also beneath it had the script from the scene. I thought this was a great way to showcase some of the behind the scenes reasoning that the creative storytellers go through when making a movie. The fact that she put it there and then blogged about it showed tremendous creativity on her part and showcased her appreciation for the movie. This movie/post in general illustrates the idea of storytelling well because at the end of the movie, it allows the viewers to wonder at the possibility of something more with the new girl, Autumn. Thus, the story continues, although the viewers are left with their own imagination to figure out what that story is.

I also took a look at some of the best work from past DS106 students, and decided to take a look at Hockey in Heel’s ‘Truthful Movie Poster’ assignment. And boy, am I glad I did. She did the truthful version to the movie Magic Mike. I completely agreed with her storytelling tactics here in which she gave the actual synopsis of the movie while managing to tell the true reason why people would go to see it.

Classic work done by both these ladies! I greatly appreciated their posts!
