Ready, SET, Go!

This week, I’m learning much more about Flickr and its inner workings.  I’ve been posting tons of photos to Flickr for various uses: daily creates, assignments, and screen shots to embed into posts.  Cogdog wanted us to explore Flickr more and create a set.  I had already created some sets to organize my photos: Land & Waterscapes, Plants and Flowers, and Animals.  I went ahead and created a new set called Best Photographs.  To do this, I went to my Flickr, clicked on Organize, then Sets, and hit “Create new set”.

Flickr Sets

I decided to add some photos that I had already taken to this set.  Each photo is a favourite of mine.  I googled how to embed flickr sets, and I used this website to help me.  I went to my set, clicked Slideshow, and used that link to embed into my blog.  Below are the photos from the set.

I chose the photo in the library because I love the contrasting colours and seemingly peacefulness of it (when you know students are freaking out about exams two rows over).  I love the detail in the pink rose close-up and how much beauty it brings to a photo.  The row of colourful shops in Puerto Rico exemplifies the memories I have from that trip: bright, happy, unique, and tropical.   The dreamcatcher and mailbox photo is one of my favourites, because of the shadows cast by the porch railing and the rustic feel of the mailbox contrasted against the shiny newness of the dreamcatcher.  I chose the sunset photo, because it’s not the sky that catches your attention, it’s the reflection of it in the water.  The train photo was taken in Frederickburg, and it stands out to me because of the fluffy clouds and the contrast between the green grass and light blue sky.  The same feelings go for the photo of the rolling fields; it reminds me of a sample photo that would come on a new computer.  Finally, I chose the duck photo because it’s an action shot and it took me nearly an hour to get the perfect shot!
