Skipping Lessons

Now, the Fandom Princess was not one to skip her scholarly courses, but if she did, she made sure to catch up with Frantic Franny, the ghost that liked to sit in on the lessons, and would ask for any information that she had missed.

One morning, after using the now-magic mirror that the ruby gem had granted her to speak to her beloved Fandom Prince (who would be returning to her soon!), she figured it would be a good idea to take Ghost out of the castle and to roam around the Mystic Forest. She sent a blue bird to the village to see if Bryson wanted to join her on her adventure, then bathed and picked out a bright, yellow dress to wear. Ghost kept watch at the door of her chambers, listening for any professors who may have noticed the Princess was not in her lessons that morning.

Once she had her bag all packed with everything necessary for the day out, she quietly snuck down the corridor, down the flight of stairs to the fencing room, through the secret passage behind the statue of Sir Victor the Great Warlock, and came out by the greenery outside by the garden. Ghost’s tail was wagging wildly as he followed her through the garden and towards the forest.

The sun was shining brightly and the roses and dandelions were singing love songs as she walked past them. At the edge of the forest, she saw Bryson sitting with his own knapsack across his back. The blue bird the Princess had sent was sitting on his shoulder.

“I wasn’t expecting an adventure today,” Bryson said happily as the Princess approached.

The Princess grinned. “Nor was I. Thank you, blue bird.”

“With pleasure, Princess,” the blue bird tweeted and fluttered away from Bryson’s shoulder.

Bryson approached Ghost and petted his head. “So, where are we going exactly?”

The Princess shrugged. “I was thinking we’d visit Artemis’s sister, Fauna.”

Fauna, also a centaur, was the famed artist that did the majority of the art décor that inhabited the castle walls. The castle board had offered her a place to stay in the castle, but she had declined, saying that only in nature could she fully express her true artistic creativity. The Princess first met her when Artemis had invited Fauna over for tea in the garden one afternoon during the Princess’ first year. Fauna took a liking to the Princess immediately, and the two soon became close friends.

“Sounds fun to me,” Bryson replied. “Anything to get me out of my own lessons.”

And with that, the two set off into the dense trees, Ghost padding loyally behind them.

Ah, what, y’all were expecting more, weren’t you? Well, sorry to disappoint, but I decided to try and shorten my lovely Fandom Princess adventures. That way I can keep expanding on a story, or multiple ones. We’ll see how it works out. SO, this week in our lovely Week 5 of DS106, we had to accomplish a variety of photography assignments and exercise our creative minds to tell stories along with them! It was a super engaging and fun week, and I had a lot of fun having an excuse to go around with my camera and take pictures of any and every thing. It was nice. So, without further ado, let me link to all the lovely assignments and reflections from this week!

Firstly, I am part of a super awesome group of bloggers for our radio show assignment! Here is the debut tweet of the dot commers!

Expect great things!

Next, this week we spent a great deal of time learning about how to better our photography skills, and we had some help in learning different techniques and editing features in doing so. Check out my post on my top three tips and how I applied them this week!

Next on the list was the ever fun loving photoblitz challenge! Check out my frantic adventure here.

Here you’ll be able to find my post about how I glammed up my Flickr account, and, after about an hour of trial and error, learned how to embed my set onto my blog. Hope y’all enjoy the pictures I consider some of my best.

My daily creates blog post for this week can be found here! I gotta say, this week was a great week for Daily Creates! I loved almost all of the topics, and really got into the picture ones.

And lastly, and certainly not least, here are the links to my visual assignments of the week. These were definitely the most time consuming, although they weren’t hard. I had a lot of fun doing these and it gave me some more experience in photo-editing, which I know I’ll be able to use even when I’m done with college. Well, here they are! Enjoy:

Gifts of Love

Chasing Color

Not Amused

Making Music

Well, that wraps things up for this phototastic week! I’m learning quite a lot in these assignments and for that I am grateful. I can’t walk out of my apartment (or around in it for that matter) without looking to see how the lighting and angles of things would make great photos! I didn’t run into too many challenges this week, except the embedding thing, but I thought it was very rewarding learning about photography and being able to be more hands on in putting those things we learned to the test. All in all, this week was great for visual storytelling and I can’t wait for more!

Until next week, Princess out!
