All Out Blitz

The Design Safari assignment made me more cognizant of the various types of designs I encounter everyday. I was on the lookout the past few days for good examples, and here is what I came up with:

Unity

With this photo, I wanted to capture the, “similarity, proximity, and alignment” of the rug design. The repeated design spanning the whole rug is a prime example of unity.

Unified carpet

Proportion

In this photo I attempted to establish a relationship in size between the near books and the far books. The angle that the photo was taken at helped to establish proportion, by making the green books appear gigantic, while the distant books miniscule.

Big book little book

Typography

This particular photo is from a sign hanging on my wall. I think the large, bold text conveys urgency and power.

How bad?

Balance

Here is an example of approximate symmetry. The opposing book shelves, while not exactly matching, are similar enough to create symmetry across the vertical axis in the middle of the photo. The one problem I had with this photo is that the electrical outlet on the wall slightly throws off the symmetry.
