So, this week, we had to carry our cameras around with us and take pictures of things that depicted the main elements of design. Here are the photos that I choose!

Colour

Colourful TJ

Here on this play mat, we see colour is used to keep our attention and evoke happy emotions. This is extremely important since babies need colourful, interesting things to look at or else they get bored and will cry. A lot.

Typography

Chipotle Cup

Typography is probably one of my favourite elements of design. This Chipotle cup plays with the concept of typography in order to be more eye-catching for the consumer, and allure them to read all of it (you have to admit, it’s a LOT of writing on a cup… but pretty important/quirky information!)

Metaphors/Symbols

We see lots of companies use symbols to represent their brand and make it stand out from everyone else. Often times, people recognize companies purely by their one iconic symbol. For this, I choose the famous apple symbol that represents Apple.

Balance

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Okay, so we like things to be balanced, right? Having things organized in an orderly fashion is more aesthetically pleasing. Here I took a picture of an eyeshadow palette I recently bought. The only other benefit to having the size of all the eyeshadow colours the same is that I know I’m getting an equal amount of product for each colour!

Rhythm

TJ's boppy pillow

Patterns are everywhere. They are visually pleasing, and pretty fun to look at if it’s an interesting print. I took a picture of a pillow that TJ uses that has an interesting pattern. I like how it’s uniform but at the same time, the shapes are different colours, forming their own unique pattern as well.
