There was a lot of work to do this week, but it went by pretty quickly as I enjoyed working on virtually all of the assignments. Let’s recap.
I spent much of this week analyzing objects around me for design principles. The majority of my pictures ended up being from my house or the UMW library. I think I definitely expanded my knowledge of design, and my eyes have been opened to seeing regular objects in a different light. A perfect example of this is my photo of the rug at the UMW library. I can’t say I had ever even glimpsed at the library floor prior to this week.
15 Stars of Assignments
Here is a list of the assignments I chose to complete. The stars total 15.
I initially planned on commenting on which assignment was my favorite, but now I find myself choosing several of them. In summary, I had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed the freedom of being able to pick and choose which assignments appealed to me.
Daily Creates
A week would not be complete without some daily creates!
Take a photo of someone that is nice and cozy in a blanket
Here is me in standard Jets gear.
If you could be any pastry in the world, which would you be?
I immediately thought to find the most disgusting pastry to ensure survival. Who would want to be a jelly doughnut? You will come and go within minutes.
Add a caption to a photo that makes it say the opposite of what it looks like it means
Any Simpsons fans out there? I haven’t watched the show in years, but watching the series is a pretty memorable part of my childhood. If you are not familiar, Ned Flanders is the neighbor of the Simpsons, and is essentially the polar opposite of Homer Simpson. So, when I saw the word ‘Simpson’ directly in front of me at the desk at the library, I immediately thought of Flanders.
Radio Show Progress
This week, our radio group was pretty active in communicating via Twitter. We decided on ‘The Fifth Dimension’ as our team name. Here’s my design for the group logo:
However, as a group we decided that we liked Cohl’s the best:
We have collectively decided on a Twilight Zone theme, and we will be adopting a soundscape format. I would embed my tweets showing communication amongst the group via twitter, however embedding does not work as I have a private Twitter account.
Overall, another successful week is in the books. As per usual, this course has expanded my knowledge of digital media, and the methods and tools that create that media.
