Daily Creates #7 and #8

Here are the six daily creates I did for week 7 and week 8:

March 3, 2013 Write one line from a song that predicts how your day will go, another how it really went.

Here is my submission for this daily create. When I saw this prompt, I thought of that scene from 500 Days of Summer, where there were two different depictions an event: the protagonist’s expectations and reality. In his expectations, Joesph Gordon Levitt’s character was charming, got along with everyone, and got back with the girl aka Zoey Deschanel’s character. In reality, he was shy, kind of awkward around the other guests, and found out the girl of his dreams was engaged to another man. If you haven’t seen that movie, here’s a clip of it:

Anyways, for my daily create, I decided to kind of go in the “500 Days of Summer” direction by picking a lovey-dovey song (the one by One Direction) as the “expectation/romanticized” part and then an angry song (the one by Lily Allen) as the “realistic” part. I think it worked out pretty well, don’t you?

November 19, 2012 10 Second Self-Portrait- Draw yourself in 10 seconds or less.

Playing with my mom's phone

So, I’m due for a phone upgrade, and I’m debating between getting the iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S4. I’ve never had a Samsung smart phone before so I was playing around with my mom’s Samsung Note and found this nifty application where you can use this little pen and draw stuff/make notes like on a notepad. Since I knew I had a ton of homework to do for ds106, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and play around with my mom’s phone by doing some daily creates! For this daily create, I was still kind of rusty, and it took me a good 4 seconds to find out how to change the colour of the pen. Anyways, for a 6 second drawing, I think it turned out well!

February 23, 2013 Bumper stickers are statements- draw one about ds106 you’d like to see.

Bumper Sticker for ds106

Again, I was messing with my mom’s phone for this daily create. It took a while for me to figure out how to change the size of the pen, but I was able to figure it out by myself! Anyways, this daily create is a play off of the existing bumper stickers for marathon and half-marathon runners. Here is what they look like just in case you’ve never seen one:

I’ve always wanted to run a marathon and get one of these stickers, which is probably why I decided to make my ds106 bumper sticker resemble them. Maybe one day I’ll run a marathon and get one of these stickers, then make a ds106 sticker to put next to it (:

February 28, 2013 Pick a vowel. Write a one paragraph story avoiding words that contain that vowel.

Here’s my submission for this daily create. I actually had a really tough time writing this, and had to resort to using the trusty ol’ Thesaurus.com to find synonyms for words that contained the vowel I chose (which was the letter “i”). In the end, I ende up accidentally using a word with the letter “i” in it… Epic fail. Can you find it?

March 2, 2013 Take a photo looking out of your best day dreaming window. Include the frame in your shot.

View from Parents' Condo

So, this photo is taken at my parents’ condo. They have a really nice view of the building’s pool, and whenever I visited over the summer, I loved looking outside. Of course, it was only for about a minute or two before I found myself by the pool instead of just looking at it from afar (hey, it was the summer!)

When I was taking the actual photo, I had trouble getting the frame part into the shot. There was sunlight coming through the window, so it made everything that was inside (like the couch and the window frame) too dark for my camera to pick up on. I was using my phone so I think it was just auto-focusing. Anyways, I finally got the shot I was looking for by manually focusing on the window part (by just touching on window on my phone, yay for simplicity!) Not going to lie, I didn’t think it would take that much effort to take a little picture, but at least I learned something new, right?

March 14, 2013 Take a picture of something you collect.

My makeup stash

Okay, so I have a confession to make: I am a makeup-a-holic. Yes, you heard me right. I am obsessed with makeup. It started when I was in 10th grade, and got my makeup done professionally for prom. Since I was only a sophomore, going to prom was a big, big deal. So, I got my makeup done, and was so surprised when I looked in the mirror. I thought, “Hey, I look good!”

So, since then, I became obsessed with buying new products, comparing products, and doing other people’s makeup. I even worked part-time at a cosmetics store for three years! As you can see in the photo, I have a decent amount of makeup. I have so many products, there are some I haven’t even taken out of the packaging! Yikes! But in my defense, if I don’t see a product for several months (before the end of its shelf life), I always give it to my friends or family. I may be a makeup collector, but I am definitely not a makeup hoarder!
