Blast From The Past/Into The Future Review

The “Team Awesome” radio show incorporated an interesting theme into their broadcast. While a common theme of a show may be a “blast from the past” or a futuristic themed show, Team Awesome took an interesting approach by mixing both themes. I really enjoyed the back and forth between the past and the future throughout the show. The team members used their creativity to imagine a world in 2040 where robots are used to perform the menial jobs that humans do not want to do. On the other end of the spectrum, when they flash to the 1950′s, a person from present day references Twitter and how it consumes peoples’ lives, however quickly says “nevermind” so as to let the person from the past find out about the future for themselves.

Overall, the audio is not as clear as it could have been, and there is consistently some white noise in the background. One difficulty I did have listening to the broadcast was deciphering between the actual broadcast and the commercials of the broadcast. I think they could have incorporated quick transitional statements to decipher between the two components of the radio show. One other thing I noted was that they could have re-recorded some parts that they fumbled over their words a bit. For a majority of the show it was obvious that they were reading off of a script, and that became more evident when they misread parts of the script. Lastly, Team Awesome incorporated a recurring subtle background music that was aesthetically pleasing to the listener and helped set the mood of the story. All things accounted, I would give this broadcast four out of 5 stars.
