Sunday Date (I Loved Our Evening Together)

You were so beautiful
Your streaming red-gold hair
the scent of you
still lingers in the clothes I wear
you leaned against me
fingers wound so tight
our laughter warmed the night
f-all-ing yes, night was fa-a-al-ing
Too soon came the time
To Walk You Home.

I loved our evening together
Even more than the day we shared
The day was forever
but in the gloaming, then we cared

(repeat, second chorus transitioning to a second vocalist)

You lingered on my porch
Your loving shadow on my window
Streetlamp shining
How long did you stand there?
It was a good day,
but we cannot share this night
There’s work in the morning,
And it just wouldn’t be right.

(together, slowly)
I loved our evening together
Even more than the day we shared
The day was forever
but in the gloaming, then we cared

The above was written spontaneously in response to the Daily Create:a lamp casts a warm glow contrasting with scudding clouds and trees sihlouetted against them
