Fight for Your Right to Recycle- Storytelling with Recycled Media Assignment

Today was recycling day in my household. But today was different in the sense that I wasn’t just sorting through plastic bottles and cardboard boxes, but also through old media files that were discarded and abandoned during the 16 weeks of ds106.

Since I’m a senior, and will be done with college in less than a week, I’ve been feeling very lethargic about doing school work. Therefore, I picked a ton of images that were related to school and partying, so create a story about how school is getting so tedious and boring, and all I want to do is PARTY! So, this Beastie Boy’s song I picked really encapsulates how I’ve been feeling, as well as add to the mood of the video. Before I keep blabbering about my video, here it is:

So, the one thing I had difficulty with was syncing the music with the images as well as editing the music so I could choose when it would start and end. I actually had to find the song on YouTube (here!), use MPEG Streamline to trim the clip so it would only show the portion I wanted, and then export the audio. It took some work, but I eventually got the lyrics I wanted. And then, I just had to spend a few minutes editing the images to fit with the lyrics. It wasn’t hard, just very very tedious and annoying.

Oh, and then I added in one random audio clip. I tried adding in a GIF but I couldn’t figure it out and even looked around on Google and couldn’t find anything remotely helpful. So yep, random audio clip. But it kinda works, right? Can you find it?

Here’s a screenshot of my work:

Hope you enjoyed, and yay for almost being done with the semester!
