Hujambo ds106ers!
This is our final weekly summary! Can you believe it? After this, all we have left is our final project stuff and then we are officially done with class! It really just seems like last week we were struggling with figuring out our domain names and tweeting at @CogDog about what the heck daily creates were. But now we’re pro’s, getting our weekly stuff done five hours before the due date, and only going on twitter to complain about programs (Popcorn, I’m looking at you).
So before I start getting teary-eyed, here’s the final weekly summary list of things I’ve done:
I don’t think I did too good of a job of explaining what exactly a remix was (considering I was somewhat intoxicated during this recording) but I think I did a decent job. I even talked about an example that wasn’t listed in our class examples. Yay for creativity!
Not going to lie, this was probably the one assignment I would kill if I could. Why, you ask? Read for more details!
Storytelling with Recycled Media Assignment
Not really much to say about it, besides I wish there were more media to play with. Everyone just submitted a ton of visuals, and I wish there were more video or audio clips to edit.
Remixing a “Post-Photographic Portrait”
This assignment was difficult for me because 1. GIMP was being a ho and not working for me and 2. I hate GIMP. Don’t judge me on the quality of this remix! I swear I can do better >.<
So, I’m not sure if I did a great job on this assignment, just because it was a little weird, even though I refreshed the page about 4 times to get a decent assignment to do. But hey, I think I had a decent interpretation… He he (:
6-Stars worth of Mashup Assignments
For this portion, I decided to create assignments since I didn’t really like any of the assignments available (and also because I still haven’t created 2 assignments… Whoops! So, here are my stars/assignments:
Cartoon Transformation– 5 Stars
Parody Video– 4 Stars
Reflection of Mashups and Remixes
I thought this portion should have gone hand-in-hand with last weeks, just because I ran into the whole copyright issue with my Harry Potter assignment, and completely freaked out. Also, I still have trouble deciphering the difference between what is copyright infringement and what could get away with fair use. It seems to be some weird grey area, and I really wish there was some huge distinguishing factor between the two. But hey, is anything in life black or white anymore?
