The Great Womp

Disclaimer: This isn’t animating correctly, but I’m working on it……

So I decided to try out the “animate a movie poster” assignment, which basically, based on the title, is self-explanatory.  So, this is titled “The Great Womp” for two reasons 1. I wanted to do The Great Gatsby and 2. It was a total womp.

I definitely bit off more than I could chew with this one.  I started out with a poster in mind and the clip from The Great Gatsby Trailer where Leonardo DiCaprio raises his glass.  So ya, that didn’t end up working at all.  So I chose this poster instead, and turned it in to this useless thing:

Even though I don’t like it, it really did teach me a lot and most importantly I figured out how to ‘paste’ a gif file on to a still image in gimp.  I made the gif in photoshop then ‘pasted’ it in to gimp.  Then with the layers on the right hand side of gimp you link together all of the animated layers, while leaving the base image unlinked, and then you can move around and scale the image.  I saw this great tutorial on youtube and what the guy did was much cooler than what I ended up doing so I think I’m going to do something like that next time.

So, even though my final product isn’t that great I worked a really long time on it so here it is anyways.  If anyone wants to improve this with the same idea because they like it, and think they can do a much better job, I’d love to see it.  Also, I just don’t even know if I went about this in the right way at all so any pointers would be great too.
