I am coming right down to the wire this week. I was really busy with my other classes, my birthday was this Wednesday, and I’m visiting my family this weekend, so I spent a good chunk of today in the car. Fortunately, I managed to get everything done just in time. Things I did this week:

2) Assignment Bank

Tons of audio assignments this week. All in all, I think I did 14.5 stars:

1. In my first assignment, I used Audacity to slow a song down by a factor of 8. The song I slowed was Human Sadness by Julian Casablancas+The Voidz. I really like how it turned out. It’s super ethereal and ambient and mysterious.
2. The second assignment was also music-related. I found the vocals track and instrumental track for Under Cover of Darkness by the Strokes and flattened the vocal track by a halfstep. It ended up sounding super disgusting.
3. My third assignment was a reading of an old spam email from my school email. I went through my entire spam filter and found the most ridiculous-looking email, with numerous grammatical and spelling errors.
4. My last assignment was the obligatory sound effects story. I worked on this one all week, making sure it ended up sounding really good. I’m really proud of how it turned out.

3) Article Responses

No articles this week, but I did write a reflection on the use of music and sound effects and such in media, including the two audio stories we had to listen to. That can be found here.

4) Audio Stuff

1. I had to make a radio bumper for DS106 Radio. It ended up being pretty simple, but I still think it’s pretty good.
2. I came up with a handful of radio show ideas. They’re pretty okay, I guess? It was a lot harder coming up with some than I’d expected.

And that’s it! At least I hope that’s it, because it’s 11:52 so I have no time left to possible do anything else this week. Hopefully next week will be less busy, so I’ll be able to finish stuff earlier!
