We made a lot of progress on the radio show this week! I mean, we had to, since it was due at the end of the week, but still. The group met up earlier this week at the sound recording booth in the Convergence Center to record most of the content for the show. Originally, I was going to be the “expert” who would comment on the topics brought up, but Connor decided he could do that instead. The expert is still called “Dr. Evan May” throughout the show, until Connor corrects the show’s host. Since my role got a lot shorter, I offered to do the audio editing. Once everything was recorded, I went through and cleaned up the audio (removing clicks from starting the recording, cutting out extraneous audio, etc.). We recorded the bumpers and commercials independently. The other group members sent me the other audio they’d recorded, and I put it all together. Since our show is supposed to be like a talk show with callers, I added some distortion to the calls by high- and low-pass filtering the audio a couple of times. It ended up sounding pretty realistic! Our show doesn’t have too much in the way of sound effects or background music, since we agreed that a talk show probably wouldn’t really include those. We thought it’d seem more realistic if the show consisted primarily of just speaking. All in all, I think it’s turned out pretty well! There should be a post up pretty soon with a link to the entire show.
