So after reviewing some information on remixes and mashups, I’ve decided a few things. First I think remixing is in itself a creative process. Mashups and remixes take an already created work and utilize it ~creatively~ for a new purpose. The end result is a new work altogether. For the parties that retain copyright over remixed media, I think there needs to be some sort of “copyright forgiveness” for media that is ultimately transformed into something new. I’m not sure how that might work though, as it is a completely grey area for artistic and creative licensing. I viewed three hilarious and creative mashups that encompass what it is to use existing media and create a new experience. Check out the three amazing ones below:
