CC Kennedy Library

In “A Vision of Students Today” Michael Wesch presents the dynamics of the college classroom along with obstacles to learning. It seems as if technology is facilitating the process yet impeding the progress. The accessibility of the internet provides students with the world at their fingertips, however it is this very access that can be incredibly distracting. The reality is we are drawn to things that interest us. The internet provides an outlet for any aspect of life you may be interested in. Therefore it may be difficult to keep concentration on the task at hand when there are so many opportunities for distraction. This is why the “old school” style of teaching with chalk boards and pencils may prove to be more effective, limiting the opportunity for distraction.
