Michigan Radio is radio station based in Ann Arbor that covers news relevant and important to the people of Michigan. The website covers news stories that are also discussed live, on air. I think a cool thing about it is that it has 3 stations, so they are able to reach 80% of Michigan’s population with their news stories (or so they say). That’s a pretty great way for people to hear news that affects them locally but also on a state-wide level. Also, the stories covered aren’t just hard news. They include human interest stories, creative and cultural experiences, and more. I think what I appreciate most about Michigan Radio is that I can access all their stories for free and they are stories that I want (and need) to read as a person living in Michigan. There are so many news sources that only allow limited online access to non-subscribers, and I think information that is designed for the public to know should be free. Overall, this new source is unique and beneficial because it helps Michiganders relate to bigger, national stories by providing them with a connection to Michigan.
