This week part of our assignment was to take a look back at past digital storytellers.  I was a little overwhelmed with this idea because I wasn’t really sure what I was looking. After spending just a few minutes looking back at previous work, I was both excited about how good it all was and nervous that I would have to make things like that in the future.

From the in[SPIRE] site one piece of work that really stood out to me was Doodly Doo by Emily DelRoss.

First off, I need to tell you that Emily and I used to be roommates so from the second that I saw this on the in[SPIRE] site I could tell it was hers.  She never showed me this before, but I could easily recognize her hand writing and doodling skills.  I really liked this because Emily found a way to tell a story that was creative and different.  Instead of just writing out what she had done all week long, she found a way to show what she had done in picture form (which is a whole lot more fun than a bunch of boring words).  I also thought this was great because it clearly showed one small part of the story of her time in ds106.  You could see how this was part of a larger story.

From the work from last semesters students that they identified as their best work I choose Toy Story MashUp by Kiersten.

As anyone who had read my blog by now knows I LOVE DISNEY.  Like seriously I love Disney anything.  Disney movies are easily my favorite type of movies and all three of the Toy Story trilogy is in my top ten (with Toy Story 3 being in my top three).  I was thrilled when I came across this video where Kiersten combined all three of the Toy Story movies into one preview.  I thought that she did an incredible job making the transitions smooth (which I can imagine was incredibly difficult) and I also loved how she made all three make sense together.  It was incredibly cool that she found a way to take three stories and combine them into one larger one.

So those were two of my favorite past ds106er assignments.  I’m off to work on some of my own now.
